"iNFLEXION" – Mentoring Program

"iNFLEXION" – Mentoring Program

Mentor is an inspired person who empowers us to see a possible future and believe it can be obtained. A powerful push can direct the undergraduates towards a brilliant path along their future carrier. So the 2010 batch of the Civil Engineering Department of University of Moratuwa had decided to host a mentoring program for the undergraduates in collaboration with the Civil Engineering Society. Accordingly, the introductory session on “iNFLEXION”, the Annual Mentoring Program was brought up to the stage successfully on 22nd of November, 2021. This monumental session was conducted from 6.00 p.m. onwards via Zoom. For year 2021, the mentoring program was decided to be conducted specifically for the level 3 students. On this remarkable day, CES Official Website also was launched along with this session writing down a golden memory in Civil diaries.

Giving a warm welcome to the audience, the Head of the department Prof. (Mrs.) C.Jayasinghe delivered a speech emphasizing the importance of encouragement gifted by the mentors when focusing on the goals. Then, the engineers Mr. Poorna Witharana and Mr. Geethanga Wijesinghe from 2010 batch gave out a clear introduction on the mentoring program, opening an outstanding platform for Civil Engineering undergraduates to clarify their doubts to have a great stride towards the future carrier.

After the impressive introduction on the program, students were given the opportunity to raise suggestions. There, the 18 batch students requested for a separate session to enhance the knowledge regarding the industry and occupations in the field related to Civil Engineering under the same program. Also another request was raised to have separate Zoom links for conducting mentoring sessions after dividing the students into groups based on the mentor assigned. Accordingly the undergraduates of level 3 were divided into groups and were assigned to mentors considering the interests of the students related to different fields in Civil engineering. Thereafter Dr. Loshaka Perera (Senior Treasurer) shared his ideas about the value of mentoring process expressing heartfelt gratitude to 2010 batch.

Actually this program was initiated with the intention of clarifying the doubts of the Civil engineering undergraduates related to the carrier path, encouraging them and enabling both the personnel and professional development, and it paved a golden way for all the Civil Engineering undergraduates of University of Moratuwa towards priceless opportunities.
