The ‘Civil Padura’ was held on the 28th of January organized by the Civil Engineering Society of University of Moratuwa showing the civil engineering students’ talents in music, dance and drama. It was a pleasant evening for all the audience to witness them.
With the sparkling
traditional attire along with a Rajya Sabha background at the Civil ‘Meda Midula’
- in front of the Civil Department premises which was decorated and illuminated
with lanterns, which added more beauty and soulful feel to that night.
The
event commenced with the lightening of the oil lamp by the dignitaries and the
welcome speech was delivered by Janith Herath, one of the representatives of
batch ‘16. Civil Engineering Department staff and the students participated in
the event. ‘Civil Meda Midula’ was surrounded by students from other faculties
and departments who were there to witness the talents portrayed.
Many music and dance
performances were done by lecturers, instructors and the students of the ’16
batch. It was amazing to watch the dancing items for the songs sung by the
batchmates. The Head of the Department, Prof. S.A.S.Kulathilaka addressed the
gathering and appreciated the skillful performances of the all who contributed
to the event and appreciated the hard work the studnets put on to make the
event a success.
During
the break, refreshments were served to all who were present at the event. Then
there was a speech by Imal, representative of ’15 batch which was then followed
by other song and dance performances. Tamil students of batch ’16 also
performed in a dance and music program and added more colours to the night.
Finally, after the vote thanks which was delivered by Dilum Dilshan, one of the batch representatives of batch ’16 and he thanked everyone who was behind the success of the Civil Padura 2020. It was one of the most excellently creative events organized by the Department of Civil Engineering of University of Moratuwa.
