CIVIL PADURA - 2018
The
world is shaped by music. Music can hold meanings that words cannot fully
express. In world there have different kind of musical events to represent the
history, tradition and thoughts of a community. Padura is a cultural event
consists with traditional music and dramas which shows Sri Lanka’s great
dignity and pride. As an engineer, development of artistic abilities is more important
to make the country better. Civil padura is the one of major event which is
held in Civil Engineering department with the participation of both students and staff.
In this year Civil Padura was held on the 2 1 st of December. That was the yearend holiday starting date. Therefore, we expected a lesser crowd to witness the event. But a large crowd was gathered around the Civil Mada Midula and continued to grow as the evening progressed. At the beginning small rain drizzling felt like a blessing for the event. Lanterns hanged on everywhere gave wonderful appearance to the Civil Meda midula. The theme of the event was built around the post man and Gami Gedara.

The
event started with the lightning of the oil lamp and the speech of vice
chancellor Prof. Kapila Perera. He praised the gathering of staff in such kind
of events and talent of students. The Event flowed with the talents on folk
music, dances and drama of students of Civil Engineering department students
and staff. Every performance was at its best as the result of hard hours of
practice. Gathering was filled with much joy and happiness.
In the break time Pol roti with lunu miris and traditional Beli mal were served. Everyone seemed to enjoyed that. Everyone appreciated hard work done in this event in short time period of preparation with a great success.

Finally
thanking speech was done by batch rep, Imal Dissanayake. Nonstop musical was
performed to dance for everyone gathered in there and bringing to the memorable
ending.
